Average?

Average?

I have just discovered that I am average, not below par or exceeding target but just plain average!  How did this happen?  Apparently, the average age for women to get divorced is 41 years old and 43 years old for men.  So, I fall slap bang in line with that. (I apologize to my dear friends who are reading this and hearing about the demise of my marriage for the first time in this blog but I guess it’s a sign of the times.) What is it about the early 40’s that produces these stats?  Has work, family and life got us down?  Is it mid-life crisis?  Now that I’m over 40, I have decided that mid-life must be much closer to 50.  I want to still be meandering my way up the hill not sliding down the other side! I’m sure all of us ‘average’ people have our own stories to tell about the why’s and wherefore’s of our situations as no two of us are completely alike.  What I do know is that contrary to our ‘early in life thinking’ that by the time we hit 40, we will have our lives sorted out; many of us arrive at this stage in our lives frazzled, bewildered and in full realization that we know very  little.  So I shall continue leading my very average life content in the knowledge that happiness is a journey and not a destination.
